Origin of AKAGI MARITIME SOGO LAW OFFICE is AKAGI YUKIO LAW OFFICE, already founded by 1918 in Kyoto.

 

In about one Century, Fumio Akagi, Yukio's son, moved our base to Kobe and broardened our range of practices. He, as legal consultant of leading companies such as Insurance Company, Bank,  P&I Club, Freight Fowarders, Shipowners, Manufacturing Companies, Trading Companies, handled numerous cases. His clients vary from Foreign govermental organization to general citizen. 

 

Each client and each case is important for us. But when asked, we shall answer the most famous court cases are:

1) so-called the Chisadane Case, judged by Japanese Supreme Court on November 28th, 1975 (Minshu Vol.29, No. 4, at 572), handled with Takaharu Kutsuna sensei, Fumio's one of the best friends and Junko (Fumio's daughter)'s boss at Kutsuna Law Office. http://www.courts.go.jp/app/hanrei_en/detail?id=45

2) so-called Asahi Metal Case, judged by U.S.Supreme Court (Asahi Metal Industry Co., Ltd.v. Superior Court of California, Solano County, 480 U.S. 102, 107 S. Ct. 1026, 94 L.Ed.2d 92 (1987) 85, 86, handled with David W. Condeff sensei.

 

Fumio Akagi was President of Kobe Bar Association (now Hyogo-ken Bar Association), Vice President of Japan Federation of Bar Associations, and worked for JFBA法務研究財団 since its inception with Shigeru Kobori sensei and is currently member of Advisory Comittee of Japanese Law School.

 

He also worked fot our region as member of Hyogo-ken Local Labour Committee, Hyogo-ken Committee for Access to Information. When so-called "本四架橋，Construction of Connection Bridge Between Honshu and Shikoku” issue occurred, he made  great efforts as the President of Local Labour Relations Commission for Seafarers ​to support the seafarers to get re-employment. He is the member of The KOBE Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1972.

 

We also engage in PRO VONO activities. Mr. Akagi is the Past Governor of International Rotary Club. 

 

In our long history we faced many trials. But thanks to the great help ＆ supports from our respectable Clients and Friends, we newly started as AKAGI MARITIME SOGO LAW OFFICE in 2016. 

 

Though in this era of Uncertainty, we believe that the FULL RESPECT TO HUMAN DIGNITY and to MAINTAIN DIGNITY is the common and sovereign keyword for all the people on earth. As Yukio did spiritual training at Temple in Hiei Mountain and studied a lot from respectable high priests in Japan, we shall steer our course to STELLA MARIS and shall navigate forever in searching TRUTH and BEST ANSWER for our clients as CRAFTSMAN in area of law.
